10 Platoon 4 Company 1989

Members of 10 Platoon 4 Company 1989

This photograph was taken during the period when the Royal Air Force were getting tested on the security of the camp, the task of 4 Company Irish Guards (living in A.P.C) was to infiltrate Airport camp and just gain access. This was a very easy exercise, with people like Barry Jones and Tabs Kerr (good lads) especially when Tabb's led the platoon through a swamp for about 7 hours in water up to your waist and all sorts of things swimming about around your feet. Bloody good fun.

Swifty looks after the bar
However, its never all work, 4 Company made their own bar from an old tin hut, it was great, there was a member from each platoon who run the bar every 2 weeks. Brendan McCann was the Company Sergeant Major who did a stock check every week, good drinker. The barman was always from the patrols platoon. Mark Swift is here behind the bar, with Ronnie O`Reagan, Doubious and John Conner. There were some bad beer drinking sessions done in this bar, it was great, there was blood all over the place, marvelous.
